2017/18 milk price review
WCB advises that following our January review we are maintaining our milk price at the average of $5.60 per kilogram milk solids.
As you may be aware, world dairy prices have declined across all dairy commodities in recent months driven by an increase in production. Milk production continues to grow in key regions, in particular the EU and US, and it is likely that this additional milk will continue to put pressure on prices over the coming months. At the same time the Australian dollar has recently strengthened which is also having a negative impact. With these factors in mind we maintain a cautious approach as market returns are now lower than envisaged at the time of our last review.
